Closed Items: Sound for Forever Bridal for Oct 29th - Spoke with Dom, there is no sound requirement for the October show at Washington Duke
Discussion of possibly getting into a record pool to get cool and breaking edge music mixes(but getting CD's) - Tabled to include Brian Pate, who can probably get us going in the right direction.
Discussion of Software management tools - John Williford, Ron Smith. Several were discussed.
Gear discussion - Questions about the Bose PAS. Lenny may try to get one. Jim Barbee is going to talk to CLS productiosn about gettign us a group discount. To obtain the discount, we would bneed a TDJA brochure(the one we use for bridal shows, and a business card to verify our memebership to get discount - status -ongoing Jim barbee.
Joe Bunn also discussed his relationship with SE systems in Greensboro. For those who want Eon G2s or possibly other gear, let him know what you need. (Bring a bodyguard with you and try to drive during the daytime)
Membership application - to be put on the website and emailed to the membership - Tracy, Bill No status from Mike Morse. I had a good discussion, emailed him, and have never heard back.
DJ software to DJ - John brought his laptop and demo'd a package that actually cues up songs and plays them. (OTS??)
Jim Barbee has joined the Triangle United Way as a resource manager. They have discovered that he is a DJ, and in 1 short month, has been requested to do at least 4 shows. Some of these shows are freebies, donations, however, they are done in front of thousands of corporate clientele. I have done two and have gotten several calls. I even won a raffle, giving 20 bucks, and getting $700 in free dry cleaning over the next three months. Although it's too short a time to tell, there is an upside to getting TDJA members involved as we are allowed to shamelessly advertise our businesses when we do these shows. As The year progresses, Jim will keep us in the loop with this potentially great public relations exposure.
Forever Bridal show in january is January 6th and 7th. TDJA will once again be tasked with providing sound. Whomever it is will need to have their system set for 2 days, with a move in likely on Friday. Volunteers welcome. After now having done this, yes a lot of work, fun and fairly predictable. I think it is impossible for someone who is doing the show(by him or herself) to also exhibit without booth assistance.
Here are the times for each day:
Expo Center
NC State Fairgrounds
Sat: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sun: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Finally, Our next meeting is Nov 15th. As hard as it is to believe, the year is coming to an end, and it will be time again to nominate officers and this meeting is mandatory to elect next years panel. Please think about whom you would like to see lead next year, as we will take nominations up to that point, and elect new leadership at this next meeting, location to be determined.
It has been my honor to lead this year, and I thank you for your invaluable support this year. I couldnt have done it without you. Our big accomplishments this year besides adding new members, I think is getting our website done and creating a marketing presence for the shows. Great team effort!!
